Biographie

Judith Christ-Küchenmeister hat eine besondere Vorliebe für starke Charakterrollen. Ihre große Spielfreude und Bühnenpräsenz bewies die Mezzosopranistin in der Spielzeit 2022/23 als Auntie und in Peter Grimes am Staatstheater Augsburg und als Filipjewna in Eugen Onegin u.a. am Theater Gera/Altenburg und am Staatstheater Darmstadt. In der Spielzeit 2023/24 ist die Mezzosopranistin erneut als Filipjewna am Stadttheater Gießen und als Stimme der Mutter in Hoffmanns Erzählungen am Staatstheater Darmstadt und am Landestheater Detmold zu erleben. 


Sie interpretierte in den letzten Jahren Knusperhexe in Hänsel und Gretel, Mme de Croissy in Dialogues des Carmélites, Azucena in Il Trovatore sowie Ulrica in Un ballo in maschera.
Auch Partien wie Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, Annina in Der Rosenkavalier und La Traviata, Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana, Alte Burja in Jenufa oder Mrs.Sedley in Peter Grimes gehören zu ihren Paraderollen.

Auch im deutschen Fach kann die wandelbare Mezzosopranistin in Partien wie Erda, Waltraute, Klytämnestra oder Herodias ihre ausdrucksstarke Stimme wunderbar zur Geltung bringen.

Erste Bühnenerfahrung sammelte die Mezzosopranistin an der Oper Frankfurt/Main und am Staatstheater Wiesbaden.
Weitere Engagements führten sie an das Opernhaus Dortmund, das Theater Koblenz, die Bühnen der Stadt Gera/Altenburg, die Volksoper Rostock, das Stadttheater Würzburg sowie an die Staatstheater Mainz, Darmstadt, Augsburg und Nürnberg.

Dabei arbeitete die Sängerin mit Regisseuren wie Nicolas Brieger, Sandra Leupold, Tilman Knabe, Christof Loy, David Mouchtar-Samorai, Christof Nel und Dirk Schmeding.
Wichtige musikalische Impulse erhielt sie von Hermann Bäumer, Andreas Hotz, Paolo Carignani, Florian Csizmadia, Enrico Delamboye, Gabriel Feltz, Michael Helmrath, Domonkos Héja, Andreas Hotz und Cathrine Rückwardt.

Im August 2013 erreichte Frau Christ-Küchenmeister beim internationalen Gesangswettbewerb in der Oper Frankfurt am Main, ausgerichtet von www.artopera.de, den 2. Preis, bei Nichtvergabe eines ersten Preises.

Judith Christ-Küchenmeister wurde in Mainz geboren, studierte am dortigen Peter-Cornelius-Konservatorium in der Klasse von Sead Buljubasic Gesang. Sie schloss ihre Ausbildung mit der Auszeichnung „Staatlich anerkannte Opern- und Konzertsängerin“ ab. Ein Aufbaustudium im Fach Oper führte sie zwischen 1996 und 2001 an die Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Frankfurt/Main, wo sie ihr Diplom in der Klasse von Paula Page und Hedwig Faßbender machte. Meisterkurse belegte sie u.a. bei William Cochran, Elio Battagli, Julia Hamari und Hans-Josef Kasper.

Musical career

Judith Christ-Küchenmeister is particularly fond of strong character roles. The mezzo-soprano demonstrated her great enthusiasm and stage presence in the 2022/23 season as Auntie and in Peter Grimes at the Staatstheater Augsburg and as Filipyevna in Eugene Onegin at the Gera/Altenburg and Staatstheater Darmstadt theaters, among others. In the 2023/24 season, the mezzo-soprano can be heard as Filipyevna at the Stadttheater Gießen and as the Voice of the Mother in The Tales of Hoffmann at the Staatstheater Darmstadt and the Landestheater Detmold.


In recent years she has interpreted Knusperhexe in Hänsel and Gretel, Mme de Croissy in Dialogues des Carmélites, Azucena in Il Trovatore and Ulrica in Un ballo in maschera.
Roles such as Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, Annina in Der Rosenkavalier and La Traviata, Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana, Alte Burja in Jenufa or Mrs. Sedley in Peter Grimes are also among her signature roles.

The versatile mezzo-soprano can also bring her expressive voice to bear in roles such as Erda, Waltraute, Klytämnestra or Herodias in the German repertoire.

The mezzo-soprano/contralto gained her first stage experience at the Frankfurt/Main Opera and at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden.
Further engagements have taken her to the Dortmund Opera House, the Koblenz Theater, the stages of the city of Gera/Altenburg, the Rostock People's Opera, the Würzburg City Theater and the State Theaters of Mainz, Darmstadt, Augsburg and Nürnberg.

The singer worked with directors such as Nicolas Brieger, Sandra Leupold, Tilman Knabe, Christof Loy, David Mouchtar-Samorai, Christof Nel and Dirk Schmeding.
She received important musical impulses from Hermann Bäumer, Andreas Hotz, Paolo Carignani, Florian Csizmadia, Enrico Delamboye, Gabriel Feltz, Michael Helmrath, Domonkos Héja, Andreas Hotz and Cathrine Rückwardt.

In August 2013, Ms. Christ-Küchenmeister, won the 2nd prize at the international singing competition in the Frankfurt Opera, organized by www.artopera.de, despite not being awarded a first prize.

Judith Christ-Küchenmeister was born in Mainz and studied singing at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory there in Sead Buljubasic's class. She completed her training with the award "State-approved opera and concert singer". Between 1996 and 2001 she studied opera at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt/Main, where she received her diploma in the class of Paula Page and Hedwig Faßbender. She attended master classes with William Cochran, Elio Battagli, Julia Hamari and Hans-Josef Kasper, among others.
